Kozy Shack Gets Comfortable with Web Protection
Kozy Shack Enterprises is a family-owned manufacturer based in Hicksville, New York. The company began as a small delicatessen in the New York City suburbs more than 35 years ago. Today, Kozy Shack employs around 350 people and its products are available throughout North America, the Caribbean and Europe, in retail stores such as Wal-Mart, Publix, Albertsons, Sam’s Club, BJ’s, and Costco.
The Problem
Having grown out of the original Brooklyn deli into a more corporate setting, Kozy Shack approached Websense® seeking products for network security and increased productivity. With employees needing to use the Internet for business purposes, Kozy Shack was exposed to the risk of Web-based threats such as malware or spyware. Additionally, employee Web surfing for personal use during work time was decreasing productivity and causing bandwith constraints.
The Solution
Kozy Shack found the solution it needed with Websense Web Filter software. Websense Web Filter reduces the risk of security threats from spyware, malicious mobile code, phishing and other Web-based frauds. Kozy Shack also selected an optional security filtering component that adds a powerful layer of security to the network by preventing employees from in advertently accessing Web sites that are infected with malicious mobile code or that are distributing spyware. Should spyware find its way to the corporate desktop, the Websense security filter stops the transmission of sensitive corporate information to external spyware host servers.
Websense Web Filter helps Kozy Shack improve employee productivity and network bandwith. Pop-up ads are blocked and employee time spent on non-business related Web sites are managed with quota time limits. Websense Web Filter has enabled Kozy Shack to institute highly adaptable Internet usage policies for its employees, while also protecting its network and its essential information from Internet security threats.
The Results
Websense Web Filter enables management at Kozy Shack to identify computers that have been infected with malware and block access to unauthorized applications, Web sites, and Web browsing proxy servers.
The software helps Kozy Shack manage Internet usage for 200 Kozy Shack associates, blocking access to adult, gambling, and most non-business streaming media sites that consume bandwith.
